The Blower's Daughter lyrics
And so it is
Just like you said it would be
Life goes easy on me
Most of the time
And so it is
The shorter story
No love, no glory
No hero in her sky
I can't take my eyes off of you
I can't take my eyes off you
I can't take my eyes off of you
I can't take my eyes off you
I can't take my eyes off you
I can't take my eyes...
And so it is
Just like you said it should be
We'll both forget the breeze
Most of the time
And so it is
The colder water
The blower's daughter
The pupil in denial
I can't take my eyes off of you
I can't take my eyes off you
I can't take my eyes off of you
I can't take my eyes off you
I can't take my eyes off you
I can't take my eyes...
Did I say that I loathe you?
Did I say that I want to
Leave it all behind?
I can't take my mind off of you
I can't take my mind off you
I can't take my mind off of you
I can't take my mind off you
I can't take my mind off you
I can't take my mind...
My mind...my mind...
'Til I find somebody new

This song is about a young Damian who thinks he is in love with his clarinet teacher's (the blower's) daughter. She however doesn't return his feelings and tells him he will be fine without her. And for the most part he is, but he still can't forget her. The shorter story means that their relationship wasn't as long as he wanted because she didn't return his feelings. I think they did have a physical relationship because the line "we'll both forget the breeze" gives me this picture in my mind of a couple kissing outside. Perhaps they had a summer fling and he wanted more. The colder water is a dose of reality that make's him realize that he is in denial of her feelings for him. As he gets older he realizes that he was merely a young boy infatuated with her, and he gets angry at the way she treated him. "Did I say I loathe you... I want to leave it all behind?" He realizes that he will get over her as soon as he finds someone new.Rating:
