Eulogy lyrics
He had alot to say.
He had alot of nothing to say.
We'll miss him.
We'll miss him.
He had alot to say.
He had alot of nothing to say.
We'll miss him.
We're gonna miss him
We're gonna miss him
So long.
We wish you well.
You told us how you weren't afraid to die.
Well then, so long.
Don't cry.
Or feel too down.
Not all martyrs see divinity.
But at least you tried.
Standing above the crowd,
He had a voice that was strong and loud.
We'll miss him.
We'll miss him.
Ranting and pointing his finger
At everything but his heart.
We'll miss him.
We'll miss him.
We're gonna miss him.
We're gonna miss him.
No way to recall
What it was that you had said to me,
Like I care at all.
But you were so loud.
You sure could yell.
You took a stand on every little thing
And so loud.
"I'm too smart when you're invisible by the bone and the symbol on you. So he bashes his skull through the window while over looking the sea. Twilight amber ego. We were amused by this"
Standing above the crowd,
He had a voice that was strong and loud and I
Swallowed his facade cuz I'm so
Eager to identify with
Someone above the ground,
Someone who seemed to feel the same,
Someone prepared to lead the way, with
Someone who would die for me.
Will you? Will you now?
Would you die for me?
Don't you fuckin lie.
Don't you step out of line.
Don't you step out of line.
Don't you step out of line.
Don't you fuckin lie.
You've claimed all this time that you would die for me.
Why then are you so surprised when you hear your own
eulogy?
He had alot to say.
He had alot of nothing to say.
He had alot to say.
He had alot of nothing to say.
Come down.
Get off your fuckin cross.
We need the fuckin space to nail the next fool martyr.
To ascend you must die.
You must be crucified
For our sins and our lies.
Goodbye!!!

There's a lot of confusion about the subject of this song. A lot of people say that it refers to Jesus Christ, but if you look at the last two lines of the third stanza, it contradicts that notion.Awesome song nontheless

I've always thought of this song as pointing to the hypocrisy of typical American "Christians". They make themselves out to be so like Christ, yet they turn around and do things like elect George W. Bush.Anyone with an education knows that Jesus was a bleeding-heart liberal, and very much unlike our redneck country.

I've heard that this song is about anyone ranging from Bill Hicks to Jesus to Santa Clause. I personally think it is about Jesus, or the Christians of today that are "representing" him. This meaning has not been rated.

not to be a blatant dick but the song is called eulogy (A laudatory speech or written tribute, especially one praising someone who has died.) and in the song it says "You've claimed all this time that you would die for me.Why then are you so surprised when you hear your own
eulogy?" i think the song is his own eulogy writin in third person. it says so many things that lead me to belive he is talking about himself "Standing above the crowd,
He had a voice that was strong and loud.
We'll miss him.
We'll miss him.
Ranting and pointing his finger
At everything but his heart.
We'll miss him.
We'll miss him."
"But you were so loud.
You sure could yell.
You took a stand on every little thing
And so loud."
if you pick apart the song it sounds like it was writin by a fan like "Standing above the crowd,
He had a voice that was strong and loud and I
Swallowed his facade cuz I'm so
Eager to identify with
Someone above the ground,
Someone who seemed to feel the same,
Someone prepared to lead the way, with
Someone who would die for me." i know i feel like that. i can identify with him it seams as if i feel the same as him, i look to his songs and lyrics to guide me in my dections and situations of life. if i were writing a eulogy for tool it would sound something like this song. the songs called eulogy and it talks about dieing thrugh out the whole song and about someone who had a vioce strong and loud someone above the croud who takes a stand on every little thing.

Eulogy is about L. Ron Hubbard. Maynard has a hatred for him and Scientology, as evidenced by Aenima's lyrics "Fuck L. Ron Hubbard and fuck all his clones".The lyrics are basically saying, "Oh, so you want to start your own religion? Would you die for me?[comparing to Jesus/Christianity] That’s what I thought. Get off of your fucking cross [pedestal] and stop trying to force onto us your own thoughts on everything. Most of it is nonsense anyway [a lot of nothing to say]"
What I'm curious about is this:
"Standing above the crowd,
He had a voice so strong and loud and I
Swallowed his facade cause I'm so
Eager to identify with
Someone above the ground,
Someone who seemed to feel the same,
Someone prepared to lead the way, with
Someone who would die for me."
Does this mean that Scientologists approached Maynard and he bought into for a while? Now this song is his rage that he bought into it? Scientologists do tend to try and get artists among themselves...
Also, I have never heard a thing about Maynard having AIDS... you could be confusing this song with "Bohemian Rhapsody"
